Purple Bamboo Shoot Tribute Tea (Yellow tea)
€71.70
Zisun Tribute Tea, originating from Guzhu Mountain in Changxing, Zhejiang, is a renowned millennium-old tribute tea in Chinese history. Its name derives from the tender tea buds resembling “purple bamboo shoots.” Since the Tang Dynasty, it has been exclusively reserved for the imperial court, and Lu Yu praised it as the “foremost among teas” in The Classic of Tea.
Crafted from premium tea buds harvested from Guzhu Mountain using traditional methods, the dried leaves are tightly straight with visible pekoe, displaying a vibrant green hue tinged with purple. When brewed, the liquor is clear and bright, releasing a delicate yet rich aroma. The taste is fresh, mellow, and sweet, with a long-lasting aftertaste.
Not only is Zisun Tribute Tea an exceptional green tea treasure, but it also carries profound historical and cultural significance in Chinese tea tradition.

2025 First Flush Purple Bamboo Shoots Tribute Cake revives the tribute legacy since Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). Tea Sage Lu Yu extolled it as “purple buds like bamboo shoots, fragrance surpassing all realms” in The Classic of Tea. Harvested at dawn from 380m wild tea groves in Guzhu Mountain’s northern slopes, each bud is processed via China’s intangible heritage “Seven Classics” method: bamboo-steamed to lock freshness, stone-mortared to preserve enzymes, hand-pressed in mulberry-wood molds into “boot-wrinkle cakes” (3.8cm diameter ×1cm thick), then charcoal-baked for seven days.
Five individually wrapped cakes (5g each) nest in kraft paper bags printed with Tang-era floral motifs from Dunhuang manuscripts. Unwrap rice paper to reveal dark-brown cakes with purple tips, exuding orchid and candied plum notes. Brewed at 95°C, the liquor shimmers with golden halo, delivering spring-stream sweetness and honeyed velvet texture, finishing with moonlit-bamboo coolness.
Ages gracefully for 3 years (best by May 20, 2028). Store in the heritage-inspired bag for personal enjoyment, or present in paulownia-wood cases as executive gifts.
Sip the essence of Guzhu Mountain’s 2025 spring, echoing a millennium of tribute tea tradition.
